“ Light is not a method, it swells within us... ”

I am a believer in the orthodox medium of oil on canvas. I like the simplicity of the materials. There is a deep and satisfying attraction in the smell and touch of oil paint. And, the richness and density of color is unique to this medium giving the painter a greater potential to connect to the object matter and the viewer.

In my work, texture is as important as color and shape. With each layer I paint the thickness stores energy and overtime, the painting evolves into a separate entity. In this process there is a dialogue between painting and painter and I am lead by my painting as much as I direct it.

In my art, I aspire to depict the unstoppable inner motion of space, shape and color. Mundane objects such as a glass or two placed at a table, a chair bathed in daylight, or an oil-lamp casting its modest glow in a quiet interior reveals to me about the complexity of the nature of perception and the energy that belies the surface.
